The best goal keeper in Africa pays a surprise visit to Makerere University Child Study Centre

It was a moment of joy on 19th July 2019 by midday when the children, teachers and Parent who had come to pick their children saw Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango coming to Makerere University Child Study Centre.  

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango who doubles as Uganda Cranes Captain and Africa’s best football goalkeeper stressed that he was surprised by the video that the children send him when Uganda Cranes was playing Zimbabwe. He said that in the video the children were wishing him the best in the game.  He stressed that he was surprised to see that children at that age knew him

Denis Onyango who is supposed to travel to South Africa decided to first visit the children of Makerere University Study Centre before proceeding to his flight to South Africa. He said that the video showed that the Children support him and Uganda Cranes.  His coming to Makerere University Child Study Centre was encouraged the children, teachers and parents to keep supporting the Uganda Cranes. He also said that his visit might also encourage the children to loves sports and become active in games and sports activities. He believes that the next best keeper of Uganda Cranes in future will come from such children that love sports.

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango brought a cake with branded names of all players of Uganda Cranes, soft drinks, T-Shirts in the colours red and yellow branded with his name. He cut the cake together with Children, Teachers and Parents; he also served them the cake. He also offered 2 million shillings to the study centre

While at the Makerere University Child Study Centre, Denis Onyango interacted very well with the children and played football with children. The Children also asked Denis Onyango a number of questions like how do you feel when you save a goal? Which number do you play in Uganda Cranes team? Where do you see Uganda Cranes in the next 5 years? And many other questions

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango advised children to be well disciplined and to always respect their parents in order to succeed in future.

Some members of staff used the moment to also interact with Uganda Cranes goalkeeper. In their interaction, Dr. Walimbwa Michael from the College of Education and External Studies thanked Mr. Denis Onyango for choosing to come to Makerere University Child Study Centre among the many schools in Uganda
