Makerere University to start training teachers of Chinese Language

The Department  of Humanities and Language Education, School of Education, successfully negotiated with Hanban Headquarters, China and the Confucius Institute, Makerere University to start training teachers of Chinese Language 

Associate Professor, Mulumba Mathias Bwanika, the department chair was offered an opportunity to benchmark Chinese language teacher preparation in several universities in China. He is currently in Xiangan University, Hunan Province.

Later, five staff from the department and the college will also go to Chine for a specialized training in language teacher education. A curriculum will then be developed, piloted, and accredited. This is an opportunity we ought to seize with both hands because Chinese is gradually becoming an international medium of business, academic and scientific activities.

Assoc Professor Mulumba Mathias Bwanika is grateful to the college Principal, Deputy Principal, Dean School of Education and colleagues for the support invested in the programme. He humbly request for unwavering support from college management and all colleagues in the college towards the realization of this programme. He ends by saying ‘Ni hao’ a famous Chinese greeting.
