College of Education Mourns the Loss of Prof.Oonyu

 On Tuesday,13th October 2020, death robbed the CEES fraternity of Assoc.Prof. Joseph Oonyu, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education Department of Science Technical and Vocational Studies (DSTVE), where he taught for over 20 years and supervised over 100 graduate Students (including 20 PhDs) to completion.

Prof.Joseph Chrysostom Oonyu was born 19th Nov, 1957 to Michael Elwana and Elizabeth Ikilai. He was married to Patience Oonyu and he is survived by three children: Joel Elwana, Joash Oonyu and Jamie Ikilai.

Prof. Oonyu posesssed over 20 years of handling education curricula, teacher and learning materials and programs at University level as well as lower levels of education with demonstrated capacity to design, develop and implement these programs.

M.Sc.,Zoology, 1993, Makerere University, Uganda.
B.Sc(Honors), Botany and Zoology , 1988, Makerere University , Uganda.

 Oct, 2020- He was Appointed as Director Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE).

He was also a ministerial appointee as member of Senate Muni University and a member of the Governing Council of the National Curriculum Development Centre.

2005- He was a Program Co-ordinator , Community Initiatives for Sustainable Development (CISDEV), a local NGO dealing with environment and Development.

Since 2010- He was Executive Director, Oracle Training and Consultancy Services, a training and consultancy firm specializing in Environmental issues, education and health.
Since 2003 -He was Senior Consultant Primary focus on Education . Conducted over 30 major consultancy assignments including the National Teacher Policy, the ITE framework, the CPD framework for teachers among others.
