Prof. Paulina Kuforiji shares her experience on interactivity in online classes

 

On 9th April 2019 the Institute of Open Distance and e-Learning conducted a half day workshop about quality online learning and Teaching (QOLT) Instrument.  Prof. Paulina Kuforiji from Columbus State University, USA shared her experience on interactivity in online classes with Makerere University College of Education and External Studies academic staff

Prof. Paulina Kuforiji shared on interactivity in online classes focussing on Course overview and introduction, quality assurance issues, Assessment and evaluation of student Learning, Instructional Material and Resources Utilized, Students Interaction and Community, facilitation and Instruction, Technology for teaching and Learning, Learner support and Resources, Accessibility and Universal Design, Course Summery and Wrap-up and   Mobile Design Readiness

Associate Professor Jessica Norah Aguti, the Director Institute of Open Distance and e-Learning welcomed participants, thanked Prof. Paulina Kuforiji for choosing to come to Uganda and also thanked Dr. Harriet Nabushawo the host scholar from Institute of Open Distance and elearning for collaborating with Prof. Paulina Kuforiji on a research project titled; Mentorship for Research Collaboration and Curriculum Co-development for Online Courses. 

The College Deputy Principal, Associate Professor Paul Birevu Muyinda stressed that the workshop was in line with the university plan and with the Institute of Open Distance and eLearning mandate which is providing ODeL and eLearning oversight and backstopping functions in the entire university.  As an Institute, we play a day to day role to ensure that new programmes are enrolled onto the distance/online learning programmes and contact programmes are increasingly adopting teaching with ICTs.

Associate Professor Paul Birevu Muyinda said this was an opportunity to learn new things rather to unlearn and relearn. He lastly thanked Prof. Paulina Kuforiji for having found time to share academic knowledge with academic staff at the College of Education and External Studies
