Makerere University, School of Public Health (MakSPH) in collaboration with the Institute of Open, Distance and eLearning (Department of Open and Distance Learning), College of Education and External Studies; and DICTS has worked tirelessly to improve the online/e-learning and teaching experience of students and faculty on the Master of Public Health Distance Education (MakSPH MPH DE) Programme. Faculty on the MakSPH MPH DE programme have developed pedagogical courses and hosted them on an upgraded MUELE. Equally, distance learning students on the MakSPH MPH DE programme are able to undertake E-Tivities and have online Faculty-Learner, Learner-Learner and Learner-Content interactions in addition to being able to submit their coursework online, etc. Further, learners and faculty are able to access MUELE on their mobile phone using 'MUELE Mobile’ downloadable from Google Playstore.
We take this opportunity to report that MakSPH is the one that sponsored the following major innovations in our E-Learning at Makerere University; a) Development of a MobileApp plugin (MUELE Mobile) for MUELE; and b) Upgrading of MUELE into the latest version and improving its usability and aesthetics
The customised MUELE MobileApp is now available on Google Playstore for you to download and install on your mobile devices. [Use 'MUELE Mobile' as your search words while in Google Playstore]. The App should enable you easily access your MUELE courses on your devices, anytime, anywhere; check for MUELE notifications and timelines for pending assignments and much more. Click here to get the MobileApp Manual for more instructions and information on the App features.
Please share your experience of using the MUELE and MUELE MobileApp with us at abigail@cees.mak.ac.ug so as to inform future improvements.
This and many other development in e-learning spurred by the MakSPH, Institute of Open, Distance and E-Learning and DICTS demonstrate Makerere University’s capacity to integrate e-learning in its conventional programmes and run 4th and 5th generation open distance and e-learning delivered programmes
