College of Education Mourns the Loss of Prof.Oonyu

The Makerere University community has with utmost shock learnt of the death of your beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Mentor and Friend, the Late Assoc. Prof. Joseph Oonyu. Please accept our sincerest condolences.
Words are insufficient to describe our sadness at the loss of this gentle father figure. Assoc. Prof. Oonyu’s acts of kindness to the less fortunate were exemplary and without fanfare. He has taught and mentored many and was always passionate about nurturing the secondary school generation by connecting them to good role models. We pray that our good Lord will comfort and strengthen the family during this trying time.
Our sincere condolences also go out to the teaching fraternity, particularly colleagues in the Department of Science, Technical and Vocational Education, upon the loss of a distinguished science educator. Assoc. Prof. Oonyu has run his race with diligence and dedication. He has taught and supervised many, conducted research and published extensively, contributed to science curricula, coordinated the transformation of institutions and been a facilitator of numerous conferences. We will dearly miss his contribution to society in general and the education sector in particular.
We commend you all to the love of God our Father, who alone can knows the thoughts that He thinks toward us, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
