Biography

Dr. Godfrey is a seasoned academic, instructional designer, and educational leader with over 22 years of experience in higher education. Currently serving as a Lecturer, Instructional Designer, and Deputy Director at the Institute of Open Distance and eLearning (IODeL), he also manages the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program eLearning Initiative at Makerere University. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he demonstrated remarkable leadership as the Acting Director of IODeL, overseeing the university’s transition to online examinations. With a PhD in ICT (Online Learning) from the University of Agder, Norway, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Instructional Design and Performance Improvement from Arizona State University, USA, he is deeply committed to advancing online education.

Godfrey’s academic journey reflects a relentless pursuit of knowledge and expertise. He holds additional qualifications including a PGDE (ICT) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, an MSc. Eng (Information Systems) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway, and a BSc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Makerere University, Uganda.

In addition to his academic roles, Godfrey serves as a consultant in instructional design, learning design, and eLearning. His research interests encompass online learning groups, instructional design, and online assessment, reflecting his dedication to shaping the future of education.
