MAK-CEES host 2019 Symposium for the Sustainable Futures Africa (SFA) Network in Uganda

College of Education and External Studies through School of Distance and Lifelong Learning is honoured to host 2019 Symposium for the Sustainable Futures Africa (SFA) Network in Uganda and specifically in Lira from 14th to 15th February 2019. The pre-Symposium event started on 13th February 2019 at AVU Conference Facility

Symposium for the Sustainable Futures Africa is a network of university scholars from the University of Glasgow, University of Botswana, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, First Technical University, Ibadan and Makerere University. The theme for the symposium for his year is: Expanding partnerships and Strategic Planning. The choice of Lira for venue is to allow interaction with the community and field visit by members.

The College Principal Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi welcomed the guests to Makerere University on behalf of the President of Uganda (the Visitor) and on behalf of the Vice Chancellor (the University CEO). He recognized Sustainable Futures in Africa Project as one of the biggest and popular projects in the College of Education and External Studies and he commended the Multidisciplinary nature of the membership and partners of SFA.

Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi provided a brief of Makerere University Structure and the collegiate system of Makerere. He introduced the 10 Colleges of Makerere University and in detail elaborated the mandate of the College of Education and External Studies at Makerere University. He promised to join the SFA team in Lira to be part of the opening ceremony of the SFA 2019 Symposium.

The Dean, School of Distance and Lifelong Learning, Dr. Alex Okot introduced the guests to the Principal and other members of staff from the school in his capacity as the National Coordinator for the SFA network, he gave a brief of what the SFA is all about and the Partner universities and NGOs involved.
