DSTVE hosts delegation from VAAL University of Technology

The Chair, Department of Science, Technology and Vocational Education, Dr Henry Busulwa met with a senior delegation from Vaal University of Technology (VUT), South Africa, on November 23rd. The two member delegation comprised the DVC Governance and Operations Prof. Gordon Zide and Principal Ekurhuleni Campus Prof. Peter H. Omara-Ojungu. According to Prof. Gordon Zide, his delegation’s visit was intended to explore prospects for partnership and collaboration with Makerere University. “Our university is eager to study the running of particular areas here at Makerere Univeristy such as sciences and technology as we have related fields of study at VUT.

We are also interested in identifying opportunities for collaboration between our two institutions”, said Prof Zide. Dr Henry Busulwa was accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Charles Opolot Okurut, Assoc.Prof. Joseph Oonyu, Dr. John Sentongo, Mr. Festo Kayima, Mr. Reymick Oketch and Mr. Jackson Byaruhanga. “DSTVE values mutually beneficial educational partnerships with universities and institutions and we certainly do have a number of areas in which we can engage with VUT”, Dr Busulwa said.

The meeting discussed the structure of DSTVE and VUT and possibilities for partnership which included internationalization and globalization efforts such as collaborative projects and publications, staff and student exchanges, E-Learning, building staff capacity through graduate trainings and research. In addition to DSTVE, the delegation visited College of Natural Science, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology and College of Computing and Information Science.
