Department of Open and Distance Learning hosts visiting Associate Professors

The Department of Open and Distance Learning has been host to visiting academics Dr. Kathy Lynch from the University of Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and Dr Dick Ng’ambi from the University of Cape Town during October. Dr. Kathy Lynch Whilst at Makerere University, Dr Lynch delivered a public lecture on “Higher education learning and teaching in the 21st century: Embracing blended learning”. She also met various personalities in the University and explored potential avenues for collaborative research with scholars from the University.

Her visit was part of the project activities of the Australian Leadership Award Fellowship in which Chair DODL Dr Paul Muyinda and Mr. Godfrey Mayende were participants. On completion of the fellowship, participants were to lead policy development and implementation of eLearning practices for tertiary institutions and primary school teachers across Uganda.

Dr Kathy Lynch is an Associate Professor in ICT Research and Development at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. She is a multi-discipline academic (IT and Education). Dr Lynch has wide experience and expertise in e-learning, specifically mobile and blended learning through national and local competitive grants, supervision and authorship. She has published over 30 academic papers and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Information Systems.
