Biography

Dr. Michael Walimbwa is a senior lecturer and researcher in Education with specialization in curriculum and instructional design, educational technology, and assessment in higher education. He currently serves at Makerere University, Uganda, where he has led several initiatives on integrating digital tools and emerging technologies into teacher education and university pedagogy. His research focuses on the intersection of education policy, technology, and assessment practices in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Walimbwa has published widely on innovative teaching and learning strategies, and he actively contributes to national and regional dialogues on education transformation in the context of artificial intelligence and digital inclusion.

Ongoing and Recent Research Projects

His recent research and funded projects include:
• Safe and Adaptive Multilingual Learning in Resource-Constrained Contexts – Mak-RIF project, approximately UGX 112 million, Principal Investigator.
• Building Capacity for Innovative Assessment in University Education – Mak-RIF project, approximately UGX 100 million, Principal Investigator.
• A Community of Practice for Enhanced Electronic Learning Methodologies in University Education – Carnegie-funded postdoctoral research project, approximately USD 37,000.
• TRUCE Project – a collaborative international research project with approximately EUR 1 million in total project funding, in which he serves as Co-PI/project team member.
