Research Topic
Exploring Alumni Engagement Practices in Universities in Uganda
This doctoral study explores how universities in Uganda engage their alumni to support institutional development and sustainability. Guided by qualitative inquiry, the research examines the forms of alumni engagement, the motivations that inspire alumni participation, and the strategies universities use to strengthen long-term relationships with their graduates.
The findings reveal that effective alumni engagement extends beyond fundraising to include alumni chapters, reunion events, infrastructure support, governance participation, student recognition, and digital networking. The study recommends strengthening alumni databases, institutionalizing alumni activities, enhancing student-alumni relationships, and promoting strategic initiatives that foster gratitude, reciprocity, and institutional loyalty.
