CEES Principal hosted SFC Members from University of Glasgow

On 15th May 2018, the Principal CEES Prof. F. Masagazi-Masaazi hosted Sustainable Futures in Afica (SFC) Network members from University of Glasgow in United Kingdom who are having a collaborative engagement with the College Education and External Studies through its School of Distance and lifelong learning. The Sustainable Futures in Africa (SFA) Network is an interdisciplinary collective that brings together researchers, educators, and communities of practice that acknowledge the situated and complex nature of practices and conceptions of sustainability.

MAK-CEES Principal delegated by MAK-VC to open CODESRIA workshop 2018

On Monday 23rd April 2018, the Principal College of Education and External Studies, Prof. F. Masagazi-Masaazi was delegated by Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe to open the two weeks CODESRIA workshop that that took place at Makerere University Senate Building Level 4 conference hall. The workshop attracted participants from Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria. The theme of the event was on the on the Role of Middle-level academics in University leadership.


Department of Adult and Community Education acquires motorized tailoring machines to boost students’ entrepreneurship

In the past few years, the Department of Adult and Community Education has intensified hands on skills training for its third year students to ensure students graduate with practical employable skills. This has been made possible through the course unit of Entrepreneurship Skills Development and Microfinance Management taught by Mr. Joseph Watuleke.


Makerere University Vice Chancellor launches EPICA Project

On 12th April 2018, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe delegated the Principal Mak-CEES Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi officially launched the EPICA project at EPICA Open Day Event. EPICA is one of the new projects at CEES. It aims at contributing to addressing the skills-gap through a process of co-design, adaptation, implementation and validation of an innovative and scalable Competency-Based ePortifolio.

MAK-CEES releases Early Childhood Development Teacher Education Examination Results 2017

On 27th February 2018, the Principal College of Education and External Studies Prof. Fred Masagazi Masaazi handed out results for Early Childhood Development Teacher Education (ECD) Examination 2017 to Dr. Cleophus Mugenyi, the Commissioner of DES (Department of Education Standards) Ministry of Education and Sports, Uganda

Makerere University Embraces E-Learning

TESSA-MOOC on Future Learn workshop

On 25th October 2017, DSTVE held TESSA (Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa) workshop under TESSA Project.  The theme of the workshop was “Making Teacher Education Relevant for 21st Century Africa”.   In attaining the above, an online course has been introduced to help teacher’s use active learning and ICT in the classroom. The online course will start on Monday30th October 2017 and it will take 4 weeks. TESSA-Africa is an initiative of the Open University of UK that is sponsoring a four weeks online course on interactive teaching


Makerere University Shines at the 2017 International Conference on Education Stockholm

On 7th June 2017,  Dr Paul Birevu Muyinda, Associate Professor, the Dean School of Distance and Lifelong Learning, CEES, Makerere University, Dr Twine Bananuka a lecturer in the Department of Adult and Community Education, Dr Alex Okot, Chair Department of Adult and Community Education and J Bateeze presented a paper on “Leapfrogging Graduate Training at Makerere University
