CEES students get hands-on chemistry training

CEES’ Department of Science, Technical and Vocational Education (DSTVE) and Brigham Young University (BYU), USA, are pooling their expertise to ensure the next generation of chemistry teachers receive hands on training and are industry- ready when they graduate.

Department of Science Technical and Vocational Education to set up a Gymnasium

The Department of Science, Technical and Vocational Education will soon launch a gym and is currently in the process of equipping it. This was announced by the Chair DSTVE, Dr Henry Busulwa during the physical education and aerobics display by students of DSTVE and Sports Science on 2nd May. The gym will be open to students and staff of the University. He added that the Department had also introduced a Master of Science Education in Physical Education.

DSTVE hosts delegation from VAAL University of Technology

The Chair, Department of Science, Technology and Vocational Education, Dr Henry Busulwa met with a senior delegation from Vaal University of Technology (VUT), South Africa, on November 23rd. The two member delegation comprised the DVC Governance and Operations Prof. Gordon Zide and Principal Ekurhuleni Campus Prof. Peter H. Omara-Ojungu. According to Prof. Gordon Zide, his delegation’s visit was intended to explore prospects for partnership and collaboration with Makerere University.

School of Education wins Tuning Africa project in East and Central Africa

The School of Education has competed with 200 universities in East, Central and Southern Africa to emerge the only winner of the Tuning Africa project in East and Central Africa. The project is funded by the European Union and aims to harmonize training curricula between European and African Universities.

Phd Dissemination Series: Management Capacity Building at Makerere University

School of Education lecturer, Dr Ronald Bisaso presented his PhD research findings at the 10th PhD Dissemination series that were held on Friday 9 March 2012.

School of Education pioneers Education for Sustainable Development at Makerere University

 

Over 30 students and staff participated in a dissemination seminar on the development of an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Curriculum in the School of Education on 29 March 2012. The seminar organised by Dr Victoria Kaggwa Tamale from DFC and Dr Mathias Bwanika from DHLE, aimed to disseminate the findings of an audit carried out on the status of ESD in the School of Education.

Gender mainstreaming workshop training

College of Education and External Studies staff were on 19 March 2012 tasked to integrate gender sensitivity in all activities including planning and budgeting. This was during a one day Gender Planning and Budgeting workshop organised by the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (GMD) at the MACE Board Room, SODLL.
