The other competitors Prof Edward Kirumira and Venasius Baryamureeba came in the 2nd position and third respectively.

The current Deputy Vice Chancellor was billed the best in an overall assessment, garnering an average of 77 percent.  Prof Edward Kirumira came in second with 70 percent, whereas Prof Venansius Baryamureeba, the former presidential aspirant scored 64% percent.

Today, the guild council addressed the interests which are likely to influence the guild president’s decision in tomorrow’s election.

According to the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (UOTIA) 2001, a VC shall be appointed on terms and conditions determined by the University for five years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for one more term.

The law also provides that the senate sends three names to the Council, the University’s governing body, which then chooses two names to forward to the chancellor, who then names the VC.

Though eligible to run for a second term, when asked whether he will be seeking re-appointment, Ddumba was none committal.
