Makerere University council picks Barnabas Nawangwe for Vice Chancellor

The Makerere University Council has today voted for Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe as the the new vice chancellor of Makerere University with a landslide victory.

According to the chairperson of the University Council Dr. Charles Wana-Etyem, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe collected 16 votes followed by Prof. Venansius Baryamureba with 4 votes and Prof. Edward Kasujja Kirumira got only two votes.Twenty-two members of the council participated in the voting process.

The council has forwarded Nawangwe’s name to the university Chancellor Prof. Ezra Suluma for endorsement. Prof. Dumba Ssentamu the incumbent will have his term come to an end the 30th August 2017.
